CIF-SS Football Playoffs Round 2

November 22, 2009 at 12:37 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

It was really a great week of hihg school football playoff games. There were a lot of close games that kept us on the edge of our seats. Also, even the games that were not close in score still had great action. Take the game that we covered , Rancho Cucamonga vs. Glendora. Sure, the Cougars came out of the gate  kicking as they scored 27 – points in the first half and led 27-7 at halftime. Also, Cougars Quarterback Greg Watson’s numbers were good as usual with over 100-yards in passing at the half as well. But, it was the second half that was explosive for the Tartans as the score got within one touchdown, but as with good teams, the Cougars were able to control the tempo of the game and scored their only TD in the second half to take the lead 34-21 and with great clock management go away with the victory. This game was covered by our Sportscenetv.net camera crew and will post highlights on the website soon. If you were at the game, you know what I mean and of course it’s too bad that one team has to go away with a loss, the Tartans did put up a great fight.  This game was truly what a playof game is supposed to be like and we hope that Round 2 will be just as entertaining as the other.

New League Alignments for 2010

October 28, 2009 at 5:56 am | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

CIF recently announced the new league alignments that will begin next fall. As you can see, the Sierra League is definitely getting beefed up with Charter Oak. The still ever tough Baseline League sees the addition of Glendora to the list. Interesting move as the Tartans have really been the team in the Sierra League that keeps people on their toes. I like the combination of the Miramonte and San Antonio League and of course the addition of Diamond Bar. It’s been tough for the Brahmas in the Sierra League, but it doesn’t get easier with Los Altos, Rowland, West Covina, Walnut and Diamond Ranch. For Diamond Bar locals it’s been a rivalry game between Walnut and Diamond Bar with the Branding Iron game, but now Diamond Ranch is in the picture where players from Diamond Bar attend Diamond Ranch if they don’t live in a particular boundary in Diamond Bar. So, the City will get two rivalry games in the season.  As for the Mt. Baldy league, it’s another meaningful match-up for Chino and Don Lugo as they usually meet up for the Milk Can game in non-league action, but this time it league action as well and Coach Greg Setlitch faces his old team.

In all, I like the changes and it makes a lot of sense and should bring great local football to all areas of the CIF Southern Section. Tell me your thoughts and do you agree or disagree with the changes?

Baseline League: Alta Loma, Etiwanda, Glendora, Los Osos, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland
Sierra League: Ayala, Charter Oak, Chino Hills, Claremont, Damien/St. Lucy’s, South Hills
Miramonte/San Antonio League: Bonita, Diamond Bar, Diamond Ranch, Los Altos, Rowland, Walnut, West Covina
Mt. Baldy League: Chaffey, Chino, Colony, Don Lugo, Garey, Montclair, Ontario
Valle Vista League: Baldwin Park, Covina, Nogales, Northview, Pomona, San Dimas, Wilson

Week 3 – Diamond Ranch vs. Chino Hills

October 2, 2009 at 4:01 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

It was definitely the most exciting game of Week 3 in the Non-League season. The Diamond Ranch Panthers and the Chino Hills Huskies went down to the final 2.2 seconds of the game and ended in dramatic fashion. It was another game that I will never forget.

Speaking of games never to forget, there is also another Chino Hills game that I will never forget. I know the Huskies faithful will cringe, but the game against Damien was the same scenario where it came down to the final seconds. I believe it was .2 seconds left.

Of course, another game that Huskies fans also never forget are the annual games against cross town rivals the Ayala Bulldogs. They unofficially call it the, “Battle of the Bone.” Now it’s even spun off to the name “Battle of the Dog Pound.” Whatever you want to call name this game is just a minor point to a game that brings out the community to watch two of the Sierra League’s best hammer it out.

So, do you have a Chino Hills Huskies never forget game that you want to share with us, then tell us here on the blog or if the ones I mentioned bring you back memories, tell us your thoughts on the game and what you were doing when it all came down to the wire.

By the way, if you want to relive those games I mentioned above, the Week 3 Game video is on the website, the Damien game is on video here on one of the past blogs. If you can’t find it, just google it and I know it’s on YouTube. As for the Ayala vs. Chino Hills game, if we receive enough requests and feedback from you the fans, then we will bring you the game possibly in a full game broadcast or at least in highlights if we can’t bring the full game to you.

2009 High School Football Is Here

September 7, 2009 at 7:06 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Sportscenetv So the new school year has begun for most school and that means High School Football is in full swing. Every local paper and national ones too have places their top 10 and 25 teams for 2009 for everyone to read. It’s always fun to watch these games, but also a lot of work too. Our camera crews on game days start at 4 p.m. and tape the whole game they are assigned to. Then, it’s the fun part. Going through all the footage looking for the plays to make the highlight reel. Once that is done, it”s time for the narration of the game to be recorded and of course the graphics and music. Once that is all done, it goes to the webmaster and it’s uploaded to the Sportscenetv.net website. By now its been many hours after the game has taken place. But, it’s well worth it because you can truly get the feel of the game from video. So, we hope that you enjoy the videos that we post on the Sportscenetv.net website. All of the others who have video footage have resorted to just giving you video clips and that’s all. Very little graphics and no narration. A vidoe is supposed to tell you a story and without a narrator to tell you the story and graphics to supplement what you are watching and of course, music to set the mood. Then, all you are really watching is the equivalent of a confusing home movie. So, we really enjoy putting these highlight videos for our viewers and we actually consider you like our good friends who are happy with what we bring to you. If you have opinions and want be part of our great group of fans, then just get involved with the site and continue to keep us running strong. I know the season has just begun, but we have one game already under our belt and many more to come. Tell us what you think about the 2009 season and remember, all of our opinions count.

Manny Ramirez from L.A. to I.E.

Ramirez is set to return to the Dodgers on July 3rd from his 50 game suspension. He could do some rehab work with the Inland Empire 66ers June 27th thru 29th.

Ramirez is set to return to the Dodgers on July 3rd from his 50 game suspension. He could do some rehab work with the Inland Empire 66ers June 27th thru 29th.

So Mannywood is possibly coming to the I.E. if you believe the words coming from Dodgers Manager Joe Torre. Torre is mentioned in a recent L.A. Times article, (which can be found on the Sportscenetv.net website) to say that Manny would play four games for the Inland Empire 66ers beginning Saturday, June 27th through the 29th. Although, the 66ers official website says that Sunday and Monday’s home games against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are sold out, but there has been no official word that Ramirez is coming to the 66ers for a rehab work. So, just in case if you are not heading to any of the 66ers games, Sportscenetv.net will be there and bring you live twitter updates on the team and Manny, if he should show up. It will be interesting to see how he is welcomed to the I.E. and if he will talk to the media. For some reason, a lot of players who do rehab work in the minors do not like to talk to the media about their injury or performance or road to recovery. I am not sure why. I remember John Lackey of the Angels, when he rehabbed with them last year, we were told that we  could  talk to him, but no cameras – video or still – would be allowed. Only the guy who had a pad and pen could take notes, but what good does that do for proof that you interviewed Lackey and quoted him correctly? At least on audio or videotape, you could have proof that the guy said what he said. After reading the articles from his New Mexico rehab, it sounds like Manny is rusty and it will be very interesting to see if he can actually get back into the swing of things and be able to make a starting spot in the Dodgers’ line-up on July 3rd. I am not too sure he can, but after all, he is Manny and in Mannywood anything is possible. So, we will be out at the game and looking for Manny. By the way, to get your Manny updates should he be playing for the 66ers, go to our twitter page at www.twitter.com/sportscenetv

Damien vs. Chino Hills Sierra League Championship Game 2006

January 1, 2009 at 9:14 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

Okay, so like I told you in my last blog that I wanted to refelct on the 2008 High School Football season and hear back from you about your favorite moments. Well, since I am in the mood to look back at the most exciting moments, does November 2006 ring a bell to any of you? It should if you are a Damien or Chino Hills high school football fan. On that faitful Friday night game, our cameras were there to catch the action and boy was it a good thing. Sure you could have read it in the newspaper, but having it on video allows you to see it first hand and experience the game as if you were there in person. Anyway, the game came down to the last tenths of a second and the Chino Hills crowd runs onto the field to celebrate what they thought was a victory, but somehow Mark Mendrum of the Spartans finds time to run a last play admist all the chaos and the official on the sideline was there to signal the touchdown and the Spartans win the game and the Sierra League Title. Talk about a wild ending. Well, just below you will be able to see the video and relive that moment again. Thanks again to all our fans and as we are on our Winter Break, I will continue to post items to keep your sports’ cravings at ease until we return.

Happy New Year

Well, 2008 is almost out the door and 2009 will enter with a roar :0)

It was a high school football season with lots of news and events occurring. Here are just a few that I think stand out for the 2008 season.

- Rancho Cucamonga defeats Los Osos

- Rancho Cucamonga defeats Upland to win the CIF-SS Central Division Football Championship

- Ayala comes from behind and pulls out a victory over the undefeated Chino Hills Huskies

- Chino Hills without a doubt plays their hearts out and almost pulls out a victory over Los Osos in the 2008 Central   Division Playoffs

-Diamond Ranch goes on a six game winning streak and makes a run to the CIF-SS Southeast 2008 Football Championships game

- Damien’s Scott Morrison is dismissed as the head football coach and is replaced by Greg Gano

If you have a high school football event that occurred in 2008, let me and all of our reader of this blog know about it.
